Cross Training
Cross training will be off for the school holidays and will resume when the summer season starts. The cost for three months of cross training is $120 this summer. Note that swimmers need to register/ re-enroll for the summer season. A minimum of 10 swimmers enrolled by 8th October will be needed to keep the land training running. The link to enroll for the summer season can be found here. If we cant get enough numbers we will look at running one on one or small group classes instead.
Cross training is highly recommended for swimmers in Performance and Silver squad. The benefits of just two hours strength training greatly magnifies the strength condition levels of swimmers already doing an involved swimming program. In addition the program run by coach Gillian works in tandem with the squads swimming program to maximize benefits and minimise injury/over stressed muscles. For more information on the program coach Gillian has a letter about the program which can be found here.

Canberra Carnival
The Canberra carnival weekend is being held on 25th - 26th November. This meet will close very soon so please try and get entries in asap as last year many people missed out. You can enter online by clicking here.
Squad Criteria
A set of guidelines that swimmers might use to find out what is required to move up to the next level of squad has been added to the website. Note that the swimming level will be assessed by coaches and moving up is at their decision. When coaches think swimmers are ready for the next level of squad they will talk to them at training. The criteria can be accessed here.
New Senior Coach
A new senior coach will be joining Mountain Swim for the summer season. Brad Thurlow is an experienced swimming coach currently based at Wagga Swimming Club. He will start with our team at the beginning of the season. Brad will be based at Springwood and will oversee the squads there. A big thank you to coaches Gillian and Cameron who have been helping out with the squads since jacqui left. Both coaches will continue in the summer season and will be working with most of the swimmers at each level in some capacity. Coach Ella will still be around and may take some odd sessions though will mainly be focusing on her uni commitments.
Open Water Swimming
This season swimmers may be interested in trying out some open water events. Aside from the Bondi to Bronte ocean swim there are a number of swims held at the Regatta Centre. For more information on open water and the calendar please click here.
